So many things seem to happen on the days when I don't get a chance to write them down, or maybe its the other way around. In any case, I had a crown made for my tooth, which was surprisingly painful. And in fact, my tooth still hurts plenty now. I also decided, as part of an overall life transition thing, to give contact lenses a try again. Its been a few years since I used them, and after using them for a few days so far, I now clearly remember why I gave up the first time around. In some subtle way, they always make you aware of your eyes, and sometimes they get dry or make you bloodshot or whatever. And of course you have to put them in and out, which is a nice bookend to the day, to poke yourself in the eye a few times.

The other day, I got a sandwich for lunch, which, for the hundreth time, came with cheese and chicken, a configuration I can not eat. Although all I did was unwrap it and not eat it, I really have to become one of those agressive people who throws a tantrum and demands a new sandwich, though in this case, since it was cafeteria style and I probably should have read what was in it, it was my fault, though I guess I still could have taken it back and demanded something. After work, I met up with Mike and we went out to a fancy restaurant, which was built in the Art Nouveau style and I had a drink, which got me drunk. It was one of the only cast iron buildings to survive the great fire, according to legend it survived because the owner bribed the firemen with wine to keep it from burning.

Also, since last writing, I have seen several films, most of them quite bad. Among those, the Luzchin Defense, Road to Perdition, which I coudn't watch, My Greek Wedding, which I couldn't watch, a Maya Lin documentary, and the Croupier. Also Roger Doger, which I couldn't watch either. In fact, of all those movies, the only one I could stand to watch was the Maya Lin and the Croupier, and Maya Lin, who is the woman who designed the Viet Nam memorial, is a pretty awful subject for a documentary, since she is pompous and seems to think she's eloquent when she's actually just verbose. The Croupier is stylish and a tiny little notch above unwatchable, which makes it head and shoulders above Roger Dodger, which is fully unwatchable, as is Road to Perdition. The Luschin defense is watchable, but not enjoyable, since it is a miserable movie about a miserable character who plays chess. Plus its really hard to spell.

Also this week, I tried my first Yoga class. Although I have done it many times in other places, like at home, I never did a class full of people on their purple mats. For some reason it was both physically hard and humiliating. Similarly, I took a pilates class, also a first, and it was also really hard and sort of embarassing.
