Well, it has been a sad weekend here. You know how you kind of jump when the phone rings in the middle of the night? Well that is because you only get bad news at that hour. And true to form, the phone rang in the middle of the night two nights ago and it was Theo, calling from the farm, or from the front lawn in front of the farm, which was on fire. Somehow, at about 4:30 am, the place caught on fire. Luckily, he was dog sitting, and the dog woke him up and saved him, though the dog was not able to save the place, which burned.

Oh well, I guess you might say there's nothing to say about a 200 year old house full of years of sweat equity going up in smoke. I mean, what I can do, really? You just rebuild and deal with it. So that is my plan. I will deal with it and move on. Sadly, a box of stuff my relatives who didn't make it out of the holocaust was lost in the fire, and some other irreplacables, like the original, still working, victrola were destroyed. But Theo didn't die, so that is the important thing.

Elsewhere in the news, Saddam Hussein is captured. Which seems like good news, at least for morale. Obviously if he was living in a hole in the dirt, which is what they tell us, then he wasn't directing the attacks, so I don't think it will affect the killings of soldiers, except from maybe demoralizing the Bathists. I wonder if this means Bush wins another term. I am pretty sure he will anyway, but I doubt this capture will change anyones mind. I think you have about 49 percent of the voters who hate him no matter what, and 50 who love him no matter what. That is why I advocate letting the confederacy reform and break away. This country would have been better off.
