Another day, another whirlwind tour of the East. I was actually in New York for what technically could be three days time, though the truth is I got on the red eye and got in to town early the next morning. Then I had an all day video shoot and raced around before doing an all day recording session and catching a cab straight to the airport. So in another way it was as if I never came to visit at all.

True, I did manage to squeeze in a very brief but satisfying visit to Graf, to see his baby, who happens to be quite a cute kid. That visit was nice, despite going to a French cafe and drinking a bowl of lemon juice, which is apparently what French people think of as fun. I also got to visit with Max and show him how to use a torch, which should serve him well as he gets old enough to understand all the ways a torch can help you in life.

A more amusing story is that the day I was leaving I ran out of a meeting to get a cell phone. The day was action packed so I had to race back and went by the cafeteria before my next meeting. While I paid for my burrito, I tore off the cell phone package and threw it away. A few hours later, I found out I needed the packaging to get my phone rebate, and wound up going to the loading dock and digging through the dumpster to find my phone box, which at the point was covered in the good of a cafeteria garbage bag. I'm not sure there is a lesson to be learned from that, but somehow, when I was standing in the dumpster, I felt like there was a good story there.
