I've been doing a lot of work in a television production facility lately. It's funny, because for long stretches I hardly leave my office, then it seems like I'm out of the office for a month at a time. And now is one of those times. I like doing the work in the recording studio. Mostly because they are competant and I enjoy working there. Plus its really cushy in the studio and they treat you right.

At the video editing place, the whole operation is totally rinky dink. Not just because they have a wall made of a sheet, or they have no heat and they plugged in a space heater and blew a fuse which knocked out power to the Avid. Not just that kind of thing. It's more that there are no chairs, only big rubber balls to sit on, which aren't all that comfortable, especially for eight or nine hours at a clip. And meals are terrible, especially when you eat balanced on a rubber ball. It's just the kind of place that is bad from the word go, with half painted walls, extension cords screwed in to the walls and matches in the bathroom. Not to be a snob, but when I was there and smelled smoke the first time, I thought something was on fire and asked if everything was ok, because I'm not used to people lighting matches to cover the smells of their bms.

When you are paying 500 dollars an hour to edit, I'm sure that there are reasons to work in a place like that, but I can't think of any. Expecially when its in Berkeley, which I am not into. And it's really hard to get to.
