What a day. What a night. First of all, I started today down in LA, which is always a bad way to start the day. Then after a recording session, the engineer, who I like a lot, told me that after 18 years this was his last session and he was quitting his job to change careers. Which is nice for him and all, but I consider a bit odd, since I was in another session four days ago, in another studio where I also like the engineer, and he told me almost exactly the same thing. Only he was in Montreal. So that is pretty weird, to all happen in one week.

Then I came back up, to attend a cocktail party with my new friend, who combines various aspects of two other people I knew, but I am reluctant to name, on account of Google. But one was the son of a jazz legend, who liked to talk for hours and weave in topics like Roscicrucians and cannibalism and gossamer satellites, all in one sentence. And another person is essentially irrelevant, but let's just say he smokes cigars and dresses like Henry the Eigth. And kind of lives like him too.

So this was quite a party. The conversation naturally covered Hadrian, since he had a huge bust of him, as well as some other topics, like the lost Dionyesian tradition, why they wanted to kill Socrates (he was expanding consciousness and people wanted to stop that) and many other topics. Including his Rolls Royce, which, apparently, was just cut in half.

Also met some other people at the party, like two Croats, one an endocrinologist, a Scottish photographer who just published a book called hips which is a nine year study of photographs of people's left hips, and assorted other people.

I'm not saying it beats beer and clams, because I don't want to seem like I"m putting on airs. But everyone was dressed up in their finery, and there was a chamber orchestra and valets everywhere. But of course I don't drink beer and I don't eat clams.

Speaking of beer and clams, apparently on PEI the house was being re-shingled and a nest of snakes, fifteen in all, fell out of the wall. So that is a pretty nice image to go to sleep with, a wall full of snakes.

All I am saying is that it has been quite a day.
